Baby Monitors
Baby Monitors help to keep a watch on your baby when you are not with her. The idea behind this great invention is that you can move around the house or your yard and still be able to keep tabs on your baby by listening or viewing your baby. This alerts you when your baby cries or needs your help.
Do you really need a baby monitor ? This was our question too when we had our baby , we thought we don't need monitors as we just live in an apartment with all rooms on the same floor, and Monitors are just for houses which has stairs. But our bedroom where we put our baby to sleep has a soundproof door and we could'nt hear her crying especially when we were watching TV or hearing songs in the living room. Then we decided to go for a monitor, and we bought a monitor from Safety 1st which was of reasonable cost and works great.
The base unit plugs into the wall wherever the baby is sleeping and the receiver can be plug in or mobile. The mobility option is great as you can carry the receiver wherever you go, to the basement or to the yard. You also have multiple receiver option if mom and dad both want to carry one incase you have a very big home.
Visual Monitors :
Some monitors even offer you the ability to actualy watch your baby. The Visual monitors enables you to watch your baby if she is covering her face with her blanket or your toddler removing the diaper quietly in the crib. These monitors are a little expensive compared to sound monitors.
Walkie Talkie Features :
You also have baby monitors that allow you to talk to the baby, play music for the baby which is especially great for calming your waking baby and making her go back to sleep. And once your child is old enough to talk back, you can have conversations with your child. The most important quality of your monitor will be the quality of reception you get. Those that use a 49 MHz transmission frequency have been around for years, those are cheap and works great but tend to have a lot of static interfere with one another. Choose a monitor with good threshold value and look for the distance guidelines too. Baby monitors have gotten a bit fancier from sensing movement, sound and watching your newborn baby. I would definitely recommend one for your baby, as it gives you peace of mind while you can relax watching a movie when your baby sleeps.
