Over the Counter Medications
Facing an FDA hearing on the safety of children’s decongestants, the makers of several leading over-the-counter cold medications announced they are voluntarily withdrawing all over-the-counter cough and cold medicines available nationwide for children aged 2 and under. The four manufacturers voluntarily withdrew the 14 cough and cold medications for infants ages 2 and under not because they were tainted or had been tampered with. They withdrew them because of increased scrutiny by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
